Wedding band Austin:
a Motown revue for a town that knows live music

A wedding band in Austin is held to a standard most cities never apply. Your guests have watched real players on real stages all year, and they can tell within eight bars whether a band is performing or clocking in. The Velvelettes bring a staged Motown and soul revue built to survive that audience: three voices, live horns, choreography and an MC, from $3,400 to $12,500.

We have played a limestone hall out in the hill country, a downtown warehouse room with the freight elevator as the only load-in, and a lakeside terrace where the show ran until the county noise curfew took the last chorus. Austin is a fly date for us, and the production flies with us.

Two things shape an Austin calendar, and both are worth knowing before you set a date. The season is bimodal: March through May and late September through November are when the weather cooperates, so those Saturdays go 12 to 18 months out. And the festival weeks distort everything around them, driving hotel and crew costs up city-wide, so if your date lands next to one, tell us early and we will price it honestly rather than discover it in October.

Summer dates are entirely possible and often better value, but an outdoor August reception in Austin needs a real plan: shade over the stage, a hard cutoff on the ceremony hour, and cooling for a horn section that cannot play in direct 100-degree sun. We will tell you exactly what a room needs. Our full wedding band cost breakdown is public, and travel is quoted as a line you can see.

The advance, in plain terms

How a Austin date runs

Travel

A fly date from Detroit, about three hours in the air. Backline and production travel with us, and we land the day before the show.

Setup

90-minute setup, 30-minute soundcheck, two 20A circuits and about 16 by 12 ft of floor for The Revue.

Good to know

Hill-country and lakeside venues often carry a county amplified-sound curfew. We advance the exact cutoff and build the set list to end on the biggest song, not to get cut off mid-song.

Before you ask

Austin questions, answered

Is there a travel fee to Austin?

Yes. Austin sits well beyond our 150-mile no-fee radius, so travel is quoted per date and appears as its own line on the quote. Check availability with your date and the figure comes back alongside it, before you commit to anything.

Can a Motown band work in a city built on other music?

It works because the soul songbook is the common ground underneath everything else Austin listens to. A guest list that argues about country, indie and hip-hop will still all know the words to the same 1960s records, which is exactly the problem a wedding dance floor needs solved.

Do you play outdoor weddings in the Texas heat?

Yes, with conditions we will put in writing. The stage needs shade, brass instruments cannot sit in direct sun before a show, and we ask for a set time after the worst of the afternoon. Given those, an outdoor Austin reception is one of the best rooms there is.

Do you play both weddings and corporate events in Austin?

Yes. Austin books us for wedding receptions and for corporate event entertainment, including tech company parties that need one vendor, one contract and a COI naming the venue.
